As the moon orbits Earth, it changes phase in an orderly way: Waxing Crescent 娥眉月; First Quarter 上弦月; Waxing Gibbous 張弦月(盈凸月); Full Moon滿月; Waning Gibbous 張弦月(虧凸月 ); Last Quarter 下弦月; Waning Crescent 殘月; New Moon 新月

Waxing Gibbous Moon with planet Mars (火星) and star Regulus (軒轅十四) on April 2

The brightest star-like object by tonight’s waxing gibbous moon is the red planet Mars. The other point of light close to the moon is Regulus. Mars is the more brilliant of the two.
