Lunar Occultation of Venus

As the year turns, the young moon (7.5%) sweeps past Venus West one hour before sunset. Since the Moon is very close to Venus, the Moon blocks the light from Venus, and a lunar occultation event occurs for about one hour and 6 minutes (19:47 to 20:53)

Moon and Jupiter Closest in South

A very bright star Jupiter and the Moon (97.9%) will be closest tonight on May 27. The planet Jupiter is close on the sky’s dome to this nearly full moon on May 29, and both Jupiter and the Moon are more or less opposite the Sun.
